Hi everyone! My name is Kellie and this journal is going to be my way of sharing this insane journey of hiking the PCT.
The Pacific Crest Trail (or PCT) is a 2,650 mile trail that starts at the California/Mexico border, goes through Oregon and Washington, and ends in Canada. About 300 hikers attempt to thru hike every year and on April 26th, I'm going to be one of them.
The funny thing about this is that until I moved to Seattle, I was never an "outdoorsy" person. It was a rare thing to see me outside for any length of time. But since moving here 6 years ago, I've completed 3 half marathons, climbed Mt. Rainier in 2009 and 2011 (summited on the 2009 climb), and have hiked countless miles while exploring this amazing state.
This adventure is going to take my new found love of the outdoors to a whole new level. Getting to spend over 5 months on the trail is so exciting. Will it be easy? No. Will I come home with tons of stories about what I've seen and the people I met? You bet! And I'll share it all here.
So keep checking back and follow along through the planning process and the hike itself.
Happy Hiking!
Kellie
